App versions

PAID VERSION

Available on the App Store (Apple) and Google Play (Android) for a small one-time fee (currently $10 US). No subscriptions or ads, and the app will automatically update when new shapes or sounds are added.

Here's what you get with the paid version:

  • Sound - each shape includes a short sound example. Watch the preview video on the App Store or Google Play to hear some examples, or check out the intro to the app on YouTube.
  • 500+ shapes - about 300 are riff and lick shapes, over 150 are chord shapes, and the remainder are scale shapes.
  • Video links - some of the riff, lick and chord shapes include a link to one of my videos on YouTube where you'll see me play an example of the shape. See the FAQs for more info.
  • Left-handed mode - just flip a switch to see all shapes in left-handed view.
  • Better art and user interface - instead of the "programmer art" in the free version ;)

FREE VERSION

You can also try a free version of the app - just click "product" in the menu at the top of this page. It doesn't have sound examples or video links, and it won't win any awards for art or design, but aside from that it has most of the functionality of the paid app.

The free version only shows about 200 of the 500+ shapes in the paid version, but it uses the same set of data (i.e. the description and song examples for each shape are the same in both versions). So between that and the almost-identical functionality, you can get a good idea of what it will be like to use the paid app simply by trying out the free app first.
